Stella ate her bagel and thought to herself, “I wonder what the old man that lives two floors above is yelling about? He is being dreadfully loud.”
After about 20 minutes his yelling ceased and her mind quickly moved forward.
John hadn’t called or sent her a letter in about six days now. She was ever so worried about him. She finished her bagel and drank her coffee with high hopes that he would phone her before lunch time.
The anticipation nearly killed her but the phone never rang.
